American and European educators traded information on best practices in college access, retention, and success at the European Access Network (EAN) conference in The Hague last week. Representing COE were Maureen Hoyler, COE President; Kaye Monk-Morgan, COE Board Chair; Kristian Wiles, COE Board Chair-Elect; board members Joseph Aguirre, Chris George, and Tom Rowland; and former board member Beth Olivares.
EAN is the only European-wide nongovernmental organization dedicated to widening participation in higher education. With the appointment of new officers and a new board, founding President Mary Tupan-Wenno is stepping down. EAN will be led by Imran Uddin of Artevelde University College in Belgium as president; Sue Welburn of the University of Edinburgh, vice president; and Katja Urbatsch of Arbeiterkind.de as treasurer. COE President Emeritus Arnold Mitchem has served on EAN's executive committee since 1997. More information about EAN can be found on their website.
